Counseling Services

Counseling Services

Â鶹¹ÙÍøis dedicated to giving you the support you need and empowering you to be your best. Mental and emotional health is an essential part of that: after all, a student struggling with excessive stress, depression, or other issues likely won't be able to fully apply themselves to their classes, work, and social life.

With that in mind, Lincoln offers no-cost mental health services to any students who need them. Counseling, group counseling, referral services, consultation and outreach, substance use screening, and crisis intervention are available to all currently enrolled students.

MISSION AND VISION

Mission

As the provider of counseling services, the staff is guided by the highest professional and ethical standards of their profession and is dedicated to providing outstanding services to enhance personal, professional, and educational development. Counseling Services support the University’s mission of providing a quality education by addressing the psychological, behavioral, and emotional needs of the student through individual and group counseling, crisis management, consultation, and assessment services.

Vision

We aspire to support and prepare students to function at their highest potential as they navigate challenges in a highly technological and global society.

Services and Resources

Â鶹¹ÙÍøCounseling Services provides no-cost individual counseling, group counseling, referral services, consultation and outreach, substance abuse screening, and crisis intervention to currently enrolled students. Counselors are available to serve students virtually, in-person, and by phone. Counseling Services uses a brief, solution-focused counseling model, typically consisting of 5 to 8 sessions per school year. Scheduled sessions are 50 minutes in length. Student concerns that are beyond the scope of care provided by Counseling Services are referred to resources in the community or TimelyMD.

  • Individual Counseling is offered in a safe and confidential setting to support students and provide strategies to help manage stress, anxiety, depression, self-confidence, sexual assault, grief and loss, healthy relationships, college-related transition and other concerns.
  • Group Counseling provides students with support and encouragement through a shared experience with their peers. Groups provide a space for students to learn new ways of relating to people, increase self-awareness, and practice skills to manage mental health concerns in a safe, confidential setting.
  • Referral support is offered to students who would benefit from community based services to enhance wellness, mental health, or to meet basic needs. Counseling services also connects students to on-campus resources, such as Health Services, Student Services, Career Services, and Office of The Chaplain.
  • Mental Health Consultation and Outreach promotes mental health awareness and wellness through conversations, educational workshops, and resource sharing events customized to meet the needs of the university community.
  • Alcohol and Other Drug Services are provided for students who want to talk about issues regarding alcohol or other drugs. Screening, referral, and risk reduction support is available to students.
  • Crisis Intervention counselors are available for immediate support between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you are a student in crisis during a time when Counseling Services is closed, contact Public Safety at 484-365-7211 if on campus, or Valley Creek Crisis Intervention at 877-918-2100. If off campus, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
